Said Teixeira of the feat, "It's pretty special. Eddie Murray is the reason I'm a switch-hitter. My dad and I loved watching him play. It's just pretty neat to be a part of that group." (MLB.com). Livan Hernandez tossed a three-hit shutout for his 50th career complete game and 100th home victory (MLB.com), and Josh Beckett provided the pitching performance of the day with a near perfect one-hit shutout (MLB.com). Ricky Romero struck out twelve to tie his career high (MLB.com), and Ichiro became the 42nd Major Leaguer in history to collect 400 career stolen bases (MLB.com).
