Milwaukee, Wis. -- In a pregame ceremony this afternoon, Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun and first baseman Prince Fielder will be honored as the 2007 NL Outstanding Rookie and NL Outstanding Player, respectively. Selected in a secret ballot of all National League baseball players, Ryan and Prince will receive Players Choice Awards for an outstanding 2007 season in which they helped guide the resurgent Milwaukee Brewers to a second place finish in the NL Central Division. Their teammate and MLBPA Executive Board member Dave Bush will represent his National League peers in presenting Ryan and Prince with their awards.

Last season, Braun led all Major League rookies in home runs (34), batting average (.324) and slugging percentage (.634), while Fielder, in just his second full season, led all National Leaguers in home runs (50) and slugging percentage (.618).

In each player's honor, the Major League Baseball Players Trust will award a $20,000 grant to the charity of their choice. Braun has chosen the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee and Habitat for Humanity to each receive $10,000. 2007 Players Choice Award winners in all categories will designate charities to receive grants totaling $260,000 from the Players Trust. Since 1992, the Players Trust has recognized the outstanding on-field and off-field performances of Players Choice Awards winners by contributing over $3 million to charities around the world.
