Rookie Vinny Rottino singled in the winning run in the 11th, as the Brewers clinched a winning year for the first time in 15 seasons. Tony Gwynn Jr. hit an RBI triple for the Brewers off Padres closer Trevor Hoffman to tie it in the ninth. Milwaukee had only two hits until then but finished with six.
