The Boston Red Sox today announced the following roster moves: Outfielder Shane Victorino was activated from the 15-day disabled list. To make room for him on the 25-man roster, outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket. Catcher Blake Swihart was placed on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to July 1) with a sprained left foot. To fill his spot on the 25-man roster, right-handed pitcher Noe (pronounced "no-EH") Ramirez was selected to the active major league roster. To make room for Ramirez on the 40-man roster, right-handed pitcher Zeke Spruill was designated for assignment.
The Boston Red Sox today activated catcher Ryan Hanigan from the 60-day disabled list. To make room for him on the 25-man roster, right-handed pitcher Jonathan Aro was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket. Hanigan will be available for tonight's game against the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre beginning at 7:07 p.m.
The Red Sox Foundation will host the 2nd Annual Tim Wakefield Golf Tournament at the Belmont Country Club on Monday, July 13, at 11:15 a.m. The event, which pairs participating golfers with Red Sox alumni and other sports celebrities, raises funds for the Red Sox Foundation and Franciscan Children's Hospital.
