Brewers sign lefty Webb to Minor League contract

MILWAUKEE -- The Brewers came home from the Winter Meetings empty-handed, but on Friday added left-hander Travis Webb via a Minor League deal that includes an invitation to big league Spring Training camp.

Webb, 28, has spent his entire career in the Reds' organization and went 2-6 with a 4.81 ERA in 54 games (one start) at Triple-A Louisville in 2012. The Brewers have an opening for a lefty in the bullpen after non-tendering Manny Parra last week.

Webb was selected by Cincinnati in the eighth round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft.

The Brewers now have six non-roster invitees: right-hander Jairo Asencio, catcher Dayton Buller, right-hander Darren Byrd, catcher Blake Lalli and Webb, plus infielder Hector Gomez, whose status is uncertain because of a groin injury.
