Brewers and Community Foundation generate over $3.5 million during season
Brewers Community Foundation (BCF) and the Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club raised more than $3.5 million during the 2012 season, with support coming from Brewers ownership, fans, players and other sponsors along with special events throughout the year.
A wide variety of special events and initiatives were staged during the season, including the following:
- Game Day 50/50 Raffle
- 5K Famous Racing Sausages Run/Walk
- BCF Week
- An Evening With Hank Aaron
- Pink Tie Guy/Step Up To The Plate in support of Breast Cancer Prevention
- Brewers Mini-Marathon
BCF Week alone raised over $220,000 during a series of events in August, and the game day 50/50 Raffle reached $1.6 million in total revenue. With the funds raised, BCF will provide support to more than 200 nonprofit organizations in the areas of health, education, recreation and basic needs.
“Brewers players and fans have responded to the call that Mark and Debbie Attanasio made to give back to the community,” Gore said. “Our financial support generates needed dollars to support critical issues throughout Greater Milwaukee, and we are very impressed by the nonprofit organizations that are achieving positive outcomes.”
In addition, BCF and the Brewers Community Relations department has donated more than 12,000 items for auctions over the past year.
Some of the non-profit programs previously supported by the Foundation include Arts at Large, Beckum Stapleton Little League, Boys & Girls Club, COA, Felix Mantilla Little League, Girl Scouts of Southeastern Milwaukee, Hunger Task Force, Make-a-Wish, Sojourner Family Peace Center, ABCD After Breast Cancer Diagnosis, UPAF, United Way, YMCA, and YWCA.
Through Brewers Community Foundation, Mark and Debbie Attanasio continue with their pledge to serve as leaders in the community. Brewers Community Foundation harnesses the pride, passion and commitment of Brewers fans, players and other supporters to positively impact the lives of children and their families in Greater Milwaukee and Wisconsin.
Brewers Community Foundation, Inc. is the official charitable arm of the Milwaukee Brewers.
