Conrad homers in loss to Dodgers
By Ken Gurnick / MLB.com
Ethier slugged a two-run homer off reliever Marco Estrada in the fifth inning, his second of the spring and 10th extra-base hit. It broke a 3-3 tie.
The Dodgers scored three runs in the first inning off Milwaukee starter Chris Narveson. Gordon tripled and scored on Ellis' single. Matt Kemp singled, Ellis scored on Ethier's fielder's choice grounder and Kemp was doubled home by James Loney.
Milwaukee answered with a pair of runs in the second inning on a two-out, two-run homer by Brooks Conrad and tied the game off Dodgers starter Chad Billingsley with a two-out rally in the third inning on the first of two doubles by Nyjer Morgan and an RBI single by Carlos Gomez.
The Dodgers broke the tie on Ethier's homer and added a pair of runs in the sixth on Ellis' two-run double.
The Brewers fought back to within a run with a two-run sixth. Kentrail Davis delivered an RBI single and Caleb Gindl added an RBI double to right-center field. The damage could have been worse, but Dodgers pitcher Ramon Troncoso limited it with a key double play off the bat of Martin Maldonado.
Angel Guzman pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning to seal the victory for the Dodgers.
Up next: The Brewers will play their third straight road game Wednesday, this time in Scottsdale, Ariz., against the D-backs -- their first matchup since last year's National League Division Series. Yovani Gallardo, who started two games in that series, including the clinching Game 5, will pitch against Arizona's Daniel Hudson. Red-hot Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy will carry a .520 Cactus League batting average into the game after taking Tuesday off. Bob Uecker and Joe Block will call the game for the Brewers Radio Network.
