Anderson to be TBS' lead postseason voice
By Adam McCalvy / MLB.com
"All the starting pitchers on both squads are tremendous athletes. They can field their position; they know how to get the bunt down, and some of [the Brewers' pitchers] are legitimate threats to Philadelphia to change the game by themselves. ... If anyone is going to match up with them game for game, I think it is the Milwaukee Brewers staff."In the same conference call, another TBS analyst, Hall of Famer Cal Ripken Jr., endorsed Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun for NL MVP. Anderson calls regular-season games for FS Wisconsin, which will air its final 2011 Brewers game on Wednesday.
First-rounder Bradley pulled from Fall League
MILWAUKEE -- Right-handed pitching prospect Tyler Thornburg will pitch in the Arizona Fall League in place of left-hander Jed Bradley, who suffered a mild groin strain."We want to be extra careful," Brewers assistant general manager Gord Ash said. Bradley was the second of the Brewers' two first-round picks in this year's First-Year Player Draft, selected 15th overall out of Georgia Tech. Like 12th overall pick Taylor Jungmann, Bradley did not sign until moments before the Aug. 15 deadline for teams to reach terms with drafted players, so the AFL assignment was to represent Bradley's professional debut. Thornburg, 23 on Thursday, is a quality replacement. He was 10-6 with a 2.57 ERA in 24 starts at two Class A affiliates in 2011, logging 84 strikeouts vs. 33 walks in 68 innings. He held opponents to a .186 average at his second stop, advanced Class A Brevard County. Complete Arizona Fall League coverage is available in a special section of MLB.com. The Brewers have nine players on the Peoria Javelinas' roster, including outfielder Logan Schafer, who is currently in the big leagues. The AFL season begins Oct. 4.
