Brewers continue enchancements to award-winning Miller Park fan experience
New 2010 television spots also premiere at Miller Park event
MILWAUKEE - Miller Park has received high acclaim from media and fan surveys in recent years, and the Brewers today unveiled a series of upgrades to the fan experience for 2010.
Most recently, Miller Park was recognized in ESPN The Magazine's "2009 Ultimate Standings: Fan Satisfaction Rankings." Overall, the Brewers placed 7th out of 122 major league franchises in the survey, and the Brewers ranked #3 among all 122 teams in the categories of "Stadium Experience" and "Affordability." In addition, in SI.com's most recent survey, Miller Park rated second overall in the Fan Ballpark Rankings.
"We are always working to make Miller Park better than ever, and it's the feedback from the fans that gives us many of the ideas for improving the atmosphere and experience," said Brewers Executive Vice President - Business Operations Rick Schlesinger.
After opening a new retail store at the Home Plate Gate and renovating the main Brewers Team Store by Majestic in the last two years, the Brewers have turned their attention to renovating and expanding the Brewers Team Store by Majestic on the Terrace Level. The upgrades include an expansion of the shopping area as well as new lighting, signage, store fixtures and floor design. The Terrace Level location is open and accessible to fans during home games when the Miller Park gates are open.
The 2010 retail offerings have also been expanded, with new items available to fans in all of the Brewers retail locations. And on the concession side, Sportservice is unveiling a host of new food and beverage items for the 2010 season. A full list of new offerings is attached.
Another upgrade is in the right field corner of the Field Level outside of Miller Park. In that area, the Plaza Pavilion has been constructed, which involved changing an existing smoking area into an outdoor gathering location. The expanded area consists of a tent structure, lighting, televisions, furniture, additional fencing and portable food and beverage stands. The area will be open free of charge to all ticketed fans prior to and during Brewers home games.
For fans interested in history, the Milwaukee Braves Wall of Honor, located on the third base side of the Field Level concourse, has been completely rebuilt with new plaques, artwork, lighting and photo banners. The Braves Wall of Honor celebrates the National League team that called Milwaukee home from 1953 to 1965.
Meanwhile, as the Brewers franchise enters its 40th Anniversary season, the parking lots surrounding Miller Park have been renamed in honor of some of the city's baseball legends. Twelve lots around Miller Park are now adorned with names of former Milwaukee Brewers and Braves players, with banners and other artwork notating the new designations. Uniformed members of the Brewers and Braves Walk of Fame are represented, with lots named after Henry Aaron, Cecil Cooper, Rollie Fingers, Jim Gantner, Harvey Kuenn, Eddie Mathews, Paul Molitor, Don Money, Warren Spahn, Gorman Thomas, Bob Uecker and Robin Yount. NOTE: For the convenience of fans, the former names of each lot are also listed in the fan guide at Brewers.com.
The "Uecker Lot," named after the Brewers legendary broadcaster and former Milwaukee Braves catcher, will include a special twist for fans. For every game, 10 spaces will be available in "Uecker's Front Row." Ten cars paying cash for general parking at each game will be selected at random to move up to the front row of the Uecker Lot, and their fee to park will be just $1. A row of designated "Uecker's Front Row" parking spaces will be reserved for these randomly selected fans.
Several other off-season projects may not be visible to fans coming to Miller Park, but they will impact the team on the field. For example, the Brewers have made improvements to the interior and the exterior of the home clubhouse. A new look entrance will welcome players and team staff while fresh paint, carpeting and furnishings adorn the interior of the clubhouse.
In the front office, the Brewers Baseball Operations department is taking over part of the right field corner of the Terrace Level as a new "War Room" and offices have been constructed. Offices and meeting space have been fitted with state-of-the-art technology to enhance the Club's scouting and baseball operations efforts.
Finally, a new roof control room has been built on the Loge Level concourse. Fans will be able to see behind the "Wizard's curtain" as a glass wall has been constructed, allowing viewing opportunities of the area where the Miller Park roof is operated.
TELEVISION SPOTS DEBUT
Also today, Brewers Executive Vice President - Business Operations Rick Schlesinger and Vice President - Consumer Marketing Todd Taylor introduced the new 2010 Milwaukee Brewers television spots that were recently filmed at Maryvale Baseball Park in Phoenix. The ads were created by the Brewers and 2-Story Creative of Milwaukee. Bill Yunker of Icarus Films directed the spots.
