Cerveceros Day and nesting doll giveaway highlight final July homestand
MILWAUKEE -- On Monday, the Milwaukee Brewers will open a six-game, seven-day homestand which includes visits by two National League Central rivals. Highlighting the homestand is "Cerveceros Day" on Saturday, July 29 and an all-fan, Brewers Infield Nesting Doll giveaway on Sunday, July 30.
The Brewers open the homestand against the Pittsburgh Pirates with the first of a three-game set on Monday. The series continues on Tuesday when fans can sit in the always popular "Daron and Bill's Buckethead Brigade" section. For $17 fans will receive a ticket in the Loge Outfield and a "Daron and Bill's Buckethead Brigade" t-shirt.
At next Wednesday's series finale with the Pirates, kids 14-and-under and seniors 60-and-over are eligible for savings of up to 50% off the regular ticket prices. Wednesday is also an MGD Getaway Day where fans can enter to win a trip for two to a Major League Baseball game.
Following an off-day on Thursday, July 27, the Brewers will begin a busy weekend series against the Cincinnati Reds on Friday, July 28. As always, on Friday fans 21-and-older can be a part of the Miller Lite Beerpen in the Right Field Loge Bleachers. Adult fans can purchase a ticket in that section for $15 and will receive a complimentary Brewers t-shirt.
The list of participants in Friday's U.S. Bank Autograph Friday is as follows: Jose Capellan, Bill Castro, Prince Fielder, Gabe Gross, Ben Sheets, Matt Wise and Ned Yost. The autograph session takes place on the field from 5:45 - 6:15 p.m. The schedule and list of players is subject to change.
Taking place throughout the weekend at Miller Park is the Northwestern Mutual Brewers Drive for Charity. Geoff Jenkins and Northwestern Mutual invite fans to drop off school supplies during the Drive for Charity at any of the Miller Park gates. Each person contributing will receive a Geoff Jenkins Collectors Brewers pin.
Prior to Saturday's game, the 7th Annual Brewers Charities 5K Sausage Run/Walk will take place. Benefiting Brewers Charities, Inc., the race will begin at 9 a.m. by the Klement's Sausage Haus. Every entry receives a t-shirt, hot dog/brat, soda and one Terrace Reserved Ticket to the Brewers/Reds game on July 29 at 6:05 p.m. (or a voucher for a Terrace Reserved Ticket to another home game, redeemable August 17-September 24, 2006). For more information on registration, contact Brewers Charities at 414-902-4488.
On Saturday, July 29, the Brewers will celebrate "Cerveceros Day" at Miller Park. The Brewers will pay tribute to Hispanic baseball by wearing uniforms that read "Cerveceros" ("Brewers" in Spanish) across the chest. Brewers great Teddy Higuera and Milwaukee Braves legend Felix Mantilla will be honored by the Brewers and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in a pre-game ceremony. Throughout the ballpark, there will be mariachi bands, bilingual announcements and a number of surprises fans won't want to miss. In addition, the first 15,000 fans age 17-and-older will receive a "Cerveceros" cap, courtesy of Culver's.
To close out the homestand on Sunday, July 30, all fans in attendance will receive a collectable Nesting Doll Set featuring Brewers infielders Bill Hall, J.J. Hardy, Rickie Weeks and Prince Fielder. The promotional giveaway is compliments of the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board. Representatives of different dairy companies will offer fans product samples in the Miller Park parking lots prior to the game. The Brewers will also don their retro uniforms that day as Teddy Higuera will be the featured Brewers "Retro Sunday" guest and will sign autographs on the concourse early in the game.
