Chris Capuano of the Milwaukee Brewers named Bank of America Presents the National League Player of the Week

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Chris Capuano, who went 2-0 with a 0.56 ERA, has been named Bank of America Presents the National League Player of the Week for April 24-30, 2006. Bank of America, the Official Bank of Major League Baseball, is the presenting sponsor of the National League and American League Player of the Week Awards, which reflect Bank of America's long-standing tradition of promoting and recognizing higher standards of accomplishment.

Capuano finished the week tied for the league lead with 16.0 innings pitched and two wins. The southpaw allowed one run with 12 strikeouts and only one walk over his two starts. Capuano tossed his first career complete game shutout in a 9-0 victory over the Cubs at Wrigley Field on April 30th. He permitted five hits and struck out six to secure the victory for Milwaukee. In his first start of the week he worked 7.0 innings, yielding three hits and one run while walking one and striking out six to defeat the Braves, 3-2, on April 24th. Capuano has gone 3-0 over his last three starts and has thrown a quality start in every one of his appearances this year. The Brewers finished the week 5-1 to climb within 3.0 games of the N.L. Central division lead.
