    The Houston Astros Player Development Department announced today that infielder Alex Bregman has been named the Astros Minor League Player of the Year, and right-handed pitcher Brady Rodgers has been named the Astros Minor League Pitcher of the Year.

  • Race for 2016 Postseason Reaches Fever Pitch in Astros Final Homestand

    With 11 games left in the 2016 regular season, the Astros are looking to secure their second consecutive postseason berth in what will be a critical seven-game homestand. Houston will return home Thursday after going 4-1 thus far on the roadtrip, which has pushed them within 2.0 games of an AL Wild Card spot. The upcoming homestand will have a major impact on Houston's playoff hopes as they take on the LA Angels of Anaheim (Sept. 22-25) and Seattle Mariners (Sept. 26-28). Houston currently owns an 11-1 record against the Angels, who they will face again in Anaheim to end the season, Sept. 30-Oct. 2. Houston is 10-6 vs. the Mariners thus far this season, with a 5-2 mark against Seattle at home.

  • Astros Release 2017 Schedule

    HOUSTON, TX -- The Houston Astros will open the 2017 season with a seven-game homestand, beginning on April 3 vs. one of their AL West foes, the Seattle Mariners. Following their four-game series vs. the Mariners (April 3-6), the Astros will host the 2015 World Series Champion Kansas City Royals for a three-game set in what will be the season's opening weekend (April 7-9).

  • Astros to Host Chicago Cubs and Texas Rangers in Pursuit of AL Wild Card Spot

    The Astros look to keep the positive momentum going, having won 13 of their last 19 games, as they host two first-place teams in the upcoming homestand. The Astros take on the former NL rival Chicago Cubs in a three-game set beginning tomorrow, Sept. 9 through Sunday, Sept. 11, in what will be the Cubs first visit to Minute Maid Park since 2012. Following that series, Houston faces off against the in-state and AL West division rival Texas Rangers, Monday, Sept. 12 through Wednesday, Sept. 14. This homestand caps off a run of four straight series against first-place opponents, against whom the Astros have gone 3-4. With 22 games remaining in the regular season, the Astros sit 2.5 games back of an AL Wild Card spot.

  • Astros announce August Minor League Players of the Month

    The Houston Astros Player Development Department has named the August Minor League Players and Pitchers of the Month at Triple A Fresno, Double A Corpus Christi, Class A Advanced Lancaster, Class A Quad Cities, Class A Short Season Tri-City, Rookie Level Greeneville and the Rookie Level GCL Astros, DSL Astros Blue and DSL Astros Orange.

    HOUSTON, TX - USA TODAY announced this morning that Astros third baseman Alex Bregman has been named the 2016 USA TODAY Minor League Player of the Year.

  • Astros make three promotions on Baseball Operations staff

    The Houston Astros have promoted three employees on their baseball operations staff, effective immediately. Mike Elias has been promoted to Assistant General Manager, Scouting and Player Development, Pete Putila has been promoted to Director of Player Development and Armando Velasco has been promoted to Assistant Director of Player Development. The announcement was made by Astros General Manager Jeff Luhnow.

  • Astros Upcoming Homestand to Feature Fan-Favorite Events and Special Giveaways

    The red-hot Astros, winners of five of their last six games, continue their hunt for a playoff spot tonight with the start of a six-game homestand. Houston will host the Tampa Bay Rays for a three-game set, August 26-28, followed by a three-game matchup against the AL West rival Oakland A's, August 29-31. The Astros are coming off of a successful 5-2 road trip and hope to keep the positive momentum going at home. Houston is 34-28 at Minute Maid Park this season.
