Brewers make Minor League moves

Burns, who made eight big league starts in '09, signs deal

The Houston Astros claimed Milwaukee outfielder Jason Bourgeois on waivers, the Brewers announced Monday.

Bourgeois batted .189 in 24 games with the Brewers, hitting one home run and driving in three runs. The right-handed hitter, who is a Houston native, batted .316 in 105 games with Triple-A Nashville, hitting two home runs, 18 doubles, and six triples, and totaling up 41 RBIs. He also stole 36 bases. Against right-handers in the Minors, Bourgeois hit .325.

With the roster move, the Brewers' 40-man roster is now at 38.

The Brewers also announced outfielder Adam Stern and right-handed pitcher Mike Burns have signed Minor League contracts for 2010. Stern's contract includes an invitation to Major League Spring Training.

Stern batted .280 in 104 games with Double-A Huntsville, hitting 17 doubles, six triples and three home runs, driving in 32 runs, and stealing 28 bases. He finished the season at Nashville and batted .310 in 18 games.

Burns was 8-3 with a 2.62 ERA in 14 starts at Nashville, including two complete games. He struck out 63 in 92 2/3 innings. he was 3-5 with a 5.75 ERA in 15 games, including eight starts, with the Brewers.
