Royals at the plate: A seven-run first inning featured RBI singles by Billy Butler, Brayan Pena and Shane Costa. Three walks and an error helped the outburst. Alberto Callaspo had two singles.
Brewers at the plate: Corey Hart singled, giving him hits in all seven of his spring games. He's batting .526 (9-for-16). Rickie Weeks doubled, his second hit in 15 at-bats (.133). Brad Nelson led off the ninth with a home run.
Royals on the mound: Starter Zack Greinke went 3 1/3 scoreless innings while giving up three hits and two walks. In his previous outing, he gave up two homers for four runs in three innings against the Indians. Jimmy Gobble relieved Greinke in the fourth and retired both batters he faced. Robinson Tejeda worked three scoreless innings.
Brewers on the mound: Yovani Gallardo, who didn't give up a run in his previous two starts, was dinged for seven runs in the first inning. He gave up four hits, all singles, and three walks, with an error mixed in. After facing 10 batters, Gallardo yielded to Tim Dillard, who quickly got the third out and added two scoreless innings.
Cactus League records: Royals 6-3-2, Brewers 5-4-1.
Up next: The Brewers make their second spring visit to Scottsdale, Ariz., on Monday to face the Giants at 3:05 p.m. CT, with Northern California native Manny Parra slated for four innings or 60 pitches in his second Cactus League start. First baseman Prince Fielder, off to a quiet 3-for-16 start to the spring, should be back in the lineup after taking Sunday off.
