PHOENIX -- The nation's most famous first officer will throw the Milwaukee Brewers' first pitch.
Wisconsin native Jeff Skiles, the first officer of the US Airways flight that made an emergency landing in the Hudson River on Jan. 15, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at Miller Park before the Brewers' April 10 home opener.
All 155 people on board Flight 1549 survived the dramatic water landing thanks to Captain Chesley Sullenberger III, Skiles and their crew.
"Jeff Skiles is a great representative of the State of Wisconsin," Brewers executive vice president of business operations Rick Schlesinger said. "We are honored to have Jeff throw out the first pitch on Opening Day."
Skiles, 49, graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1984, with majors in geology and geophysics. He resides in Oregon, Wis., near Madison, with his wife, Barbara, and three children and has flown for US Airways for 23 years.
