LaRoche, Russell ejected in sixth
Slugger argues called third strike; skipper argues ejection
MILWAUKEE -- Manager John Russell and first baseman Adam LaRoche were ejected prior to the top of the sixth inning of the Pirates-Brewers game on Sunday.
LaRoche struck out looking on a questionable call in the fifth and appeared to have words with home-plate umpire Bob Davidson immediately after being punched out and again as he left the field at the end of the Brewers' fifth.
Davidson tossed LaRoche, which caused Russell to storm out of the dugout and get into a shouting match with the umpire. Russell and Davidson were separated by second-base umpire Mike Reilly during the back-and-forth confrontation. It marked Russell's first ejection as Pittsburgh's manager.
Doug Mientkiewicz replaced LaRoche at first base.
