Brewers at the plate: Cole Gillespie hit a three-run, eighth-inning homer. Tony Gwynn Jr. has had a slow start this spring, but he had singles in his first two at-bats, including a neat bunt to third leading off the third inning. He has six hits overall and went 2-for-4.

A's at the plate: Donnie Murphy singled, stole second and scored on Travis Buck's two-out, fifth-inning single. Murphy also had a second-inning double. They had four hits through seven innings.

Brewers on the mound: Left-hander Chris Narveson sailed through the first four scoreless innings, allowing two hits and a walk, while striking out a pair.

A's on the mound: After a bit of a rough start, right-hander Joe Blanton worked five innings, allowing one run on three hits and three walks. He whiffed five, all of those strikeouts coming in the last nine batters he faced. Reliever Dan Meyer allowed the homer to Gillespie.

Cactus League records: Brewers 7-4; A's 8-4.

Up next: The Brewers play the National League Central-rival Cubs at Maryvale Baseball Park on Monday. It's their second game against the Cubs, having defeated them, 10-6, at Mesa this past Tuesday. Milwaukee right-hander David Bush gets the start against Cubs lefty Rick Hill. The A's play the Angels at Tempe Diablo Stadium in the second meeting of the spring between the two teams. The Angels won, 6-1, in Tempe this past Monday. Southpaw Dallas Braden is slated to go against Angels ace right-hander John Lackey.
