Brewers to hold second Block Party
All fans welcome to event with players, mascots on Saturday

The Brewers would love to return the favor and get better acquainted with their fans.
The club is organizing its second summer Block Party at Clarke Square Park on Saturday, with 10 players and the team mascots scheduled to appear. All Brewers fans are invited to attend the event, which will run from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. CT at 2330 W. Vieau Place.
"It's one thing to always invite people to come over to your place, but it's nice to reciprocate every once in a while," said Tyler Barnes, the Brewers' vice president of communications.
Players, including Johnny Estrada, Yovani Gallardo, Corey Hart and J.J. Hardy, will sign autographs and take part in a question-and-answer session for about an hour. Fans also will get to meet Bernie Brewer and the Klement's Racing Sausages at the event, with Brewers television analyst Bill Schroeder and Telemundo's Pablo Ibanez and Hector Molina serving as the masters of ceremony.
The party also will feature face painters, clowns and raffles with prizes, such as Brewers tickets and merchandise.
The party is free of charge, and the first 300 fans will receive a complimentary hot dog, soda and chips.
"Fans are a huge ingredient to the success of a team," Barnes said. "We're doing more and more to get players out into the community, to take our events out into the city."
The club is hosting the party in conjunction with Ald. Robert Donovan. The Brewers hosted their first Block Party on June 23 in Ald. Willie Hines' 15th District and invited residents from selected neighborhoods to attend the event.
The club was so pleased by the turnout of more than 300 that it has decided to open Saturday's party to all comers. The third and final party, to be held on Aug. 18 in Ald. Michael Murphy's 10th District, will follow the same formula.
"The local turnout was phenomenal," Barnes said of the first Block Party. "Certainly, when the team was going through the leaner years, the support was very good.
"This was an opportunity to continue to show how much we appreciate the support of the fans. We don't in any way take that for granted. We want to continue building that relationship with the rest of the community."
