Brewers 7, Giants 3
at Maryvale Baseball Park
Thursday, March 23

Brewers at the plate: Bill Hall scored three runs, including one on Gabe Gross' first-inning, two-run double, as the Brewers built an early lead and never looked back. Corey Koskie continued his hot streak with an RBI double and a run scored.

Giants at the plate: Seven different players collected one hit apiece as the Giants lost their fifth straight game.

Brewers on the mound: A day after winning a spot in the starting rotation, right-hander Dave Bush pitched six nearly spotless innings, holding the Giants scoreless on five hits. Two of San Francisco's hits off Bush didn't leave the infield, and the right-hander struck out four.

Giants on the mound: Starter Brad Hennessey was charged with six runs, four of them earned, on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings. Four of those hits came in the Brewers' half of the fifth inning, when Hennessey walked in a run before he was relieved by Jeff Fassero. Relievers Fassero, Tyler Walker and Scott Munter combined to pitch 3 2/3 innings without allowing an earned run.

Cactus League records: Giants 9-12; Brewers 11-9-1.

Up next: Left-hander Doug Davis takes the mound for Milwaukee when the Brewers face Brandon Webb and the Diamondbacks on Friday afternoon in Tucson. Meanwhile it's a battle of Jasons in Scottsdale, as the Giants' Jason Schmidt tries to improve his 2-0 spring record against Jason Jennings and the Rockies.
