Chris Saenz, welcome to the big leagues.

The 22-year-old who was in Double-A Huntsville on Thursday night arrived in Milwaukee on Friday and will make his Major League debut against the Cardinals on Saturday afternoon. He is pitching in place of left-hander Chris Capuano, who was placed on the disabled list Friday with a quadriceps injury.

"I guess that's what you have to do, if you want to pitch at this level," Saenz said.

Saenz, a right-hander who works with a low-90s fastball and a nice slider, will go up against the National League's most potent offense. But the Brewers tamed Albert Pujols on Friday, when Matt Kinney and Brooks Kieschnick held St. Louis in check long enough for Craig Counsell to deliver a game-winning single in the bottom of the ninth.

Manager Ned Yost said catching duties would fall to Chad Moeller, who also caught reliever Jeff Bennett's first Major League appearance earlier this month. What did he plan to do to calm Saenz down?

"I don't think there is anything you can do, at least not until he gets through that first inning," Moeller said.

Wes Helms' ninth-inning single was his first pinch hit for the Brewers. He has 11 career pinch hits. ... The Brewers bullpen will be in better shape, two days removed from Thursday's 15-inning affair. Yost said left-handed starter Doug Davis would be available to pitch an inning if necessary.
