International Soccer Match at Miller Park

On Tuesday, July 14, Miller Park will transform from ballpark to soccer pitch, as two world-renowned clubs face off against one another in an international soccer match! This year's match will feature popular Mexican team, Atlas Futbol Club, also known as Club Atlas, and Newcastle United F.C from the English Premier League.


Tickets go on sale Thursday, June 4 at 10 a.m. and range in price from $25 - $70. Parking is $20 in advance and $25 on the day of the match. The pitch will be laid out in an east-west orientation with one goal in left field and the other goal near first base. The match will start at 8 p.m., and the gates to Miller Park will open at 6:30 p.m.

NEWCASTLE UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB — Founded in 1892, Newcastle United Football Club plays in the English Premier League, considered by many to be the top league in the world. Newcastle F.C. plays their home matches in St. James Park -- the oldest and largest football stadium in North East England, able to hold over 52,000 football fans. Team supporters, known as the Magpies, are drawn from all over North East England and beyond with ardent supporters' clubs all across the globe. The 2015 season saw Newcastle remain in the English Premier League with hard-fought victories over such clubs as Crystal Palace (3-2), Tottenham (2-1), Manchester City (2-0), Liverpool (1-0), and EPL title-winning Chelsea (2-1).

ATLAS FUTBOL CLUB — Atlas was founded on August 15, 1916 by a group of young men including José "Lico" Cortina, Gabriel and Raúl Romo, among others, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Atlas has won 4 Mexico Cup titles in its history as well as the 1951 Mexican League, and is one of the most important soccer academies in Mexico for the development of young talent. Atlas plays at the 60,000 seat Jalisco Stadium in Guadalajara. In 2013, Grupo Salinas acquired the club. Atlas is currently a member of Liga MX, the first division of the Mexican Football league system. The club has qualified for the playoffs the last two season, finishing 4th in the 2015 Clausura season and 3rd in the 2014 Apertura season - on both occasions finishing only one point from first place.
