With six home runs in the final round, Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder defeated Rangers outfielder Nelson Cruz to win the 2009 State Farm Home Run Derby at Busch Stadium. Fielder and Cruz each hit 11 home runs in the first round to advance to the second round, where Fielder hit six homers to Cruz' five as the duo outlasted hometown favorite Albert Pujols and Ryan Howard to reach the final round. Fielder hit 23 homers in the event, including the Derby's longest home run, a 503-foot shot to right-center field in the second round, and won it with a 423-foot shot just to the left of straightaway center field.
