S.C.O.R.E. for Excellence Day

S.C.O.R.E for Excellence Day is a joint venture with Milwaukee Public Schools designed to motivate grade school students to excel in academics, attitude and attendance.

S.C.O.R.E. for Excellence Day is held on a one-day morning visit in May. Brewers' players, coaches and front office staff visits approximately 30 selected elementary schools, touching the lives of more than 15,000 youths. They speak to students about the importance of school and community; taking advantage of opportunities; seeking positive role models; and striving for excellence in education. Key to the presentation is the use of five baseballs in interactive exchanges with students. Each ball is designed with one of the S.C.O.R.E. character messages printed on the side. During the program, the players engage children in a dialogue about the importance of these five important elements. It is a fun program that opens communication between the children and their role models. In addition, all students participating in the program receives t-shirts and bookmarks to remember the day.

The next S.C.O.R.E. for Excellence Day is scheduled for Tuesday, May 26, 2009.

S.C.O.R.E.

S.C.O.R.E. stands for School, Community, Opportunities, Role models and Excellence. It is the Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club’s signature youth education and recreation initiative.

Throughout the community, our players, alumni and front office personnel serve as ambassadors for S.C.O.R.E. They speak to area students about the importance of school and community; taking advantage of good opportunities; seeking positive role models; and striving for excellence in education.

Through school visits, kids are able to learn from members of the Brewers organization, providing special moments that they will always remember.
