Donations

Astros Charitable Donation Request Process:

The Astros are proud to support area nonprofits in their fundraising efforts through our in-kind donations process. Please note that in-season, most donation requests are filled with tickets to specifically selected Astros home games. In the non-baseball season, the Astros' in-kind donations to nonprofits usually consists of one autographed item per nonprofit. Due to the number of requests we receive from worthy nonprofits, the following rules apply for requests:

  1. All requests must be made in writing on the official 501c3 letterhead of the nonprofit organization requesting a donation. We cannot support requests from individuals or from other for-profit agencies or companies.
  2. Requests must include brief information about the charity/event including:
    a. Date and location of the charitable fundraising event
    b. The full name, title, work address, phone number and work e-mail address of the appropriate contact at the requesting nonprofit organization
    c. Estimated number of people expected to attend the event or people served by your nonprofit
  3. All requests must include a copy of the 501 (c)(3) letter from the IRS confirming the requesting organizations nonprofit status. Donations are limited only to 501c3 nonprofit, charitable organizations. We cannot provide donations to individuals, for personal causes or for personal gifts, holidays, appreciation awards or for employee raffles or prizes, and because we assist 501c3 nonprofits directly, we cannot give to individuals who are fundraising on behalf of a charity.
  4. We regret we are unable to honor requests for an item signed by a specific player or tickets for specific games. Due to the number of donation appeals received, we must limit our donations to organizations within the Astros MLB territory.
  5. Since our goal is to assist as many groups as possible every year, we can only donate to nonprofits once a year and may rotate groups that receive donations. All nonprofit groups that receive an item or tickets, are required to fill out and return a form detailing how much the item raised for your 501c3 nonprofit.
  6. We are unable to make any monetary donations or purchase program ads, sponsor golf holes, or buy tables at banquets. Tickets cannot be exchanged for other dates or resold, and we are unable to accommodate requests for an item autographed by a specific player.
  7. Donation requests are usually filled within 30 days of the event date whenever possible. Requests must be received at least six (6) weeks prior to your event. We are unable to fill requests with less than six weeks notification. Please do not send duplicate requests or send multiple copies of your request to various departments.
  8. Due to volume, we cannot accept email or phone requests. Please send one request, following the above guidelines with all forms and info needed, via the US mail service to:

If you have provided us with all the information required above within the minimum 6 week advance notice, and your event is within one week but your nonprofit group has not received a response, you may email us at communityrelations@astros.com.

Please note: By team policy, Astros' front office personnel are unable to intervene on behalf of fans seeking autographs for charitable purposes and we cannot accept items via mail or in person for delivery to players. Thank you for not sending personal items as we cannot be responsible for their return.
